In Indian kitchens, Coriander powder is used to enhance the taste and aroma in food. The taste of food remains incomplete without it. Moreover, dried coriander is also very beneficial for health. It is derived from the seeds of the green coriander, which is also a popular curry seasoning throughout the country. Usually, the whole seeds are preferred which is grinded as it loses its flavour soon after its grinded, but the powdered form is also readily available in the market. It contains volatile oil which is very beneficial for stomach related issues for us hence also known as anti-diabetic plant in many countries of Europe.
Cooking and use
It is the main ingredient in the preparation of many curries and gravy because of the gentle flavor. It is usually added in the later part of the preparation or just before simmering. It goes well with most of the salads, soup and chutneys. The coriander powder is used in South Indian and Maharashtrian cuisines in rasam, sambar and vegetable dishes. Coriander powder and oil are used in seasonings for sausages and meat products. It is kept in an opaque airtight container away from heat and sunlight to preserve the flavor and aroma. It will remain fresh for up to 6 months. To prevent spoiling a small piece of asafoetida can also be added to the jar. Also, this coriander powder is from Kerala, so, the efficiency of the spice would be extremely high.

Coriander seeds can prove to be very beneficial for diabetes patients. It has compounds such as flavonoids, polyphenols, B-carotenoids (B-Carotenoids) present in it help to keep plasma glucose normal.
Treating Anemia as along with iron, vitamin C is also present in it, which promotes the absorption of iron in the body.
It is used as traditional and household medicine against seasonal fever, stomach disorders and nausea.
Coriander seeds can also reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases along with cholesterol and fat.
