Himalayan Pink Salt

It is a natural salt found in the Himalayan hills as the name suggests it is pink in colour and is already in crystal form and not made separately. Its effect is considered cold. Like sea salt, it is also used for cooking. Himalayan Pink Salt has less sodium than normal salt and more potassium and magnesium content.  It contains about 92 percent mineral elements which are very beneficial for our body hence it has a place in traditional and Ayurvedic medicines. In many places it is also known as Himalayan salt.

Cooking and use:

Apart from traditional culinary purposes, the Himalayan Pink salt is used in making many delicious dishes like masala puri, Pani puri. It is also used in many households as the main salt, instead of common salt. It is advisable to have food items with a little of this salt after breaking the fast, to prevent weakness in the body because of an empty stomach for long-duration One more use of this is in salt lamps that consist of large blocks of Himalayan Pink salt with an inner light source that heats the salt and these are effective to remove air pollutants. It can also be used in bathing by adding 2-3 spoons in the water.  It must be stored in an airtight jar away from any heat, moisture and sunlight. A little moisture may also spoil the quality.
