Laxmi Chowki

Beautifully hand painted laxmi Paduka Aipan Chowki on red cloth from Kumaon. Laxmiji Paduka aipan painting shows a variety of circular and linear Aipan designs around the footprints of goddess Laxmi, considered auspicious among Hindus. Aipan craft is a traditional cultural art form of the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand. It is traditionally drawn in front of the houses or temples like rangoli, and has a specific design which is related to the occasion or the venue. The intricate art form that Aipan is, has been passed on from one generation to the other in the kumaun region of Himalayan state of Uttarakhand.
