Machal Chilli Flakes are a condiment made from dried red chillies, which are then dry-roasted (toasted) in an oven before being crushed into coarse flakes. Unlike regular sun-dried chilli flakes, which can be bright and fruity, roasted flakes have a smoky, nutty, and earthy flavour. The roasting process caramelises the natural sugars in the chilli, adding a complex depth and slightly darkening the colour to a deep crimson or mahogany. Their crunchy texture and smoky aroma make them perfect for sprinkling over pizza, salads, avocado toast, or roasted vegetables also.
