Gold Plated Sterling Silver Earring

Gold-plated sterling silver earrings are made from a combination of two metals: sterling silver and gold. Sterling silver is an alloy made from 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% other metals, usually copper. Gold plating is a process in which a layer of gold is deposited onto the surface of the sterling silver using electrolysis. The thickness of the gold layer can vary, but it is typically between 0.5 and 2.5 microns.
