Cefpodoxime is an antibiotic that belongs to the cephalosporin class. It works by killing bacteria or stopping their growth.
It is commonly prescribed for infections such as:
Respiratory infections – like sinusitis, bronchitis, pneumonia
Ear infections – otitis media
Throat infections – tonsillitis, pharyngitis
Urinary tract infections (UTIs)
Skin and soft tissue infections
Important: It is not effective against viral infections like colds or flu.
Typically 200 mg every 12 hours, or as prescribed by your doctor.
Can be taken with or without food, though taking it with food may reduce stomach upset.
Complete the full course even if you feel better before finishing it; stopping early can lead to resistance.
