Alkaline Phosphatase (ALP) Test

Alkaline phosphatase (ALP) test is a diagnostic test performed mostly to detect disorders affecting the hepatobiliary system. Disorders of bones, kidneys and placental dysfunction too can be detected by performing this test. Chemically, alkaline phosphatase is an enzyme which helps in protein metabolism. Disorders like hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, osteomalacia, can be detected by performing ALP test. Malnutrition also tends to disturb levels of ALP due to erroneous protein metabolism. Levels of ALP are disturbed even in case of intestinal, hepatic, renal and pancreatic cancer. Patients who have already been diagnosed of any of the above mentioned disorders, may require to undergo ALP test at regular intervals as part of medical follow up. अल्कधर्मी फॉस्फेटस (एएलपी) चाचणी हीटॅटोबिलरी सिस्टमवर परिणाम करणारे विकार शोधण्यासाठी निदानात्मक चाचणी केली जाते. ही चाचणी करून हाडे, मूत्रपिंड आणि प्लेसेंटल डिसफंक्शनचे विकार देखील शोधले जाऊ शकतात. रासायनिकदृष्ट्या, अल्कधर्मी फॉस्फेटस एक सजीवांच्या शरीरात निर्मार्ण होणारे द्रव्य आहे जे प्रथिने चयापचय करण्यास मदत करते. एएलपी चाचणी करून हेपेटायटीस, यकृत सिरोसिस, ऑस्टियोमॅलासियासारखे विकार आढळू शकतात. चुकीच्या प्रोटीन मेटाबोलिझममुळे कुपोषणामुळे एएलपीच्या पातळीवर त्रास देखील होतो. आतड्यांसंबंधी, यकृताचा, मूत्रपिंडाचा आणि स्वादुपिंडाचा कर्करोग झाल्यास देखील एएलपीची पातळी गोंधळलेली आहे. आधीच नमूद केलेल्या कोणत्याही आजाराचे निदान झालेल्या रूग्णांना वैद्यकीय पाठपुरावाचा भाग म्हणून नियमित अंतराने एएलपी चाचणी घेण्याची आवश्यकता असू शकते.
