Hi!! I’m Malvika, founder of Woof Ministry, a company that offers healthy and tasty treats for pets. I have a Bachelor's degree in Hotel Management and an MBA in Marketing, while my co-founder and life partner, Animesh has a B.Com degree and an MBA in Marketing. We both have over 14 years of experience in various Marketing and Business Development roles in India and Dubai.
In came, Cookie & Bingo
Our journey as pet parents began with our first dog, Cookie, who taught us how to be pet parents and not just pet owners. We adopted Cookie from a shelter when she was 3 years old. Cookie, Bingo, and Mango have a special place in our hearts, but it was Bingo's illness that led us to research and understand pet nutrition.
When we adopted Bingo in 2018, he was a 2 year old puppy who was obese and was on the verge of being abandoned as he had developed renal illness. The reason being, he was being fed puppy kibble only for all his life. And no walks or activities! The “family” said that if someone doesn’t pick him up from their house that day itself, they would go and abandon him. He came home with us that day itself! And took us along on this journey of learning, understanding and loving a dog with a renal illness. What was easy was that he was a total foodie and easily took to well-balanced home cooked meal guided by a canine nutritionist. However, we struggled to find treats that were suitable for him and Cookie.
And then began research and research and research! We started trying and testing making treats at home in the oven, then came the dehydrator and well, that was the end of the story there! Along with the dehydrator, also came the looks from the Supermarket butcher that what is this lady going to do with all these organs and meat cuts!!! With the right food, Bingo thrived and loved us for more than 2 years with us! In 2019, we moved to India bag, baggage and both Cookie & Bingo. But sadly, we always knew he wouldn’t be with us forever and so in June 2019, he left us with this gaping hole in our hearts.
The Beginning of Woof Ministry
And so as a tribute to him, the dog who loved food more than anything in this world, we started WOOF MINISTRY. And that is how our logo was also designed to honour both Cookie & Bingo, who taught us everything about DOGS, and love and patience.
Along Came Covid, Mango & feeding the community dogs
During lockdown, on one of our walks with Cookie, along came a happy doggo and started playing with us and tagged along with us on the walk! This happened 1 day … and next day and then the 3rdday. The smart pup that she is, she figured what Cookie’s walk times were and would conveniently be hanging around our house to accompany us on our walks and get treated to Woof Ministry goodies at the end! One thing led to another, and before we knew it she had adopted us! It was meant to be! We fell for her Hook, Line & Sinker!!!
Covid also began another new journey for us – Feeding the community dogs! It started with 3 dogs on our street! And it became a routine, the cooking for the strays, then going and feeding them at 8PM … them waiting for us and wagging their tails as soon as they recognized the car! It was the highlight of our days! We had our own names for all of them too!!! Zodiac doggo – well because he sat outside a Zodiac showroom and would only eat in front of the showroom even though in lived in a building! Then we have a “dancing doggo” because he would “oooh…ooooh…oooooooh” and tippy tap every single day. One of our favourites is Rani – the Queen of Pali Hill! She loves getting scritches behind her ears & loves chicken feet equally! And then there are so many more like Don and Lucky who also have a special place in our hearts !!! We have the privilege of feeding close to 120 dogs and 20 cats on our daily feeding journey and we only hope to grow this number with the support of all our valued customers and pupstomers!!!
