Verifying and claiming your store’s website are two essential steps in setting up your Google Merchant Center account. In most cases, once it’s done, you won’t have to do it again.

Now link your store directly to your Google Merchant Center account. Verify and claim your store by pasting below the HTML code generated from your GMC account dashboard.

Once this is done, you can start uploading product data and create product feeds that can be linked to your Google Ads account for marketing with Google Shopping Ads.

Installation guide

Step 1: Add your website address

  • Sign in to your Google Merchant Center account.
  • From the navigation menu, click the tools icon Merchant Center Settings [icon].
  • Select Business information under “Tools”.
  • Click the Website tab.
  • Enter the URL for your online store, starting with http:// or https://. Use a domain that you own and maintain.
  • Click Continue.

Step 2: Verify your website

After you have added your website URL in GMC, you need to verify your website by clicking on "Add an HTML tag".

  • Copy and paste the HTML tag generated for your website in the above plugin section. It should look like this "<meta name="google-site-verification" content="_pbVlkdjjsTgDFMeQqTsZslmF_2-mN4-wY33rcA9ek" />"
  • After the above step is done, wait for 5 mins and then click the "Verify Website" button at the bottom right to submit your website for verification.
  • After verification, you can claim your website directly by clicking on it.
